Physiciansapply.ca offers many free self-education programs for physicians but today I wish to highlight one in particular: their Cross-cultural Communication Course which defines required communication and cultural competencies in Canada.

Given Canada is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world, this course is essential learning for NAC-OSCE preparation, communication skills being an integral scoring component of the exam.

Physiciansapply.ca Cross Cultural Communication Course

Please note that this course does not focus on diagnosis and treatment, instead the modules zero in on communication between patients and healthcare professionals through different scenarios based on case studies taken from everyday examples of medical practice in Canada.

I encourage all IMGs to spend some time perusing Physiciansapply.ca as they prepare for the NAC-OSCE exam if they haven't already. It is a helpful resource and it offers many other programs that are worth exploring too, such as: Indigenous Health, Consent and Confidentiality, and Professional Challenges just to name a few.
