Founded in 2014, Choosing Wisely Canada is a clinician-led medical resource for health care practitioners and their organizations which aims to enhance the quality of patient care by actively recommending the reduction of certain unnecessary and overused tests, treatments or procedures that are not supported by scientific evidence and may expose patients to harm.
Their website features a comprehensive guide of recommendations and resources sorted by specialty that may conveniently be downloaded as a PDF or excel spreadsheet to help you stay up-to-date on current best practices as you preparation for the NAC-OSCE.
Recommendations are reviewed and updated annually by clinical societies. You can learn more about their roadmap for developing recommendations and their review process in their Medical Professional Society Handbook.
Choosing Wisely Canada is supported by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), The University of Toronto, and St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto and receives funding from the CMA and grants from federal, provincial, and territorial ministries of health together with other partners and agencies.
